A different kind of
psychotherapy practice
Considering we are all part of something bigger, our mental health should be seen in the context of our surroundings. We function within our schools, families, jobs and society as a whole; because of this, collaboration matters. I practice psychotherapy through a systems framework, including all family members, and school counselors and teachers when appropriate, even conducting sessions at the school.
WHAT IS COLLABORATIVE SCHOOL BASED COUNSELING?
This innovative approach has been proven succesful at helping kids thrive. In this model, instead of taking the child to the therapist's office, the therapist works with the child at his/her school.
Kids and parents nowadays have such busy schedules, that devoting one afternoon each week to go to therapy seems unrealistic to most. This approach simplifies the process, while also increasing collaboration between the therapist and school professionals in order to improve accuracy of diagnosis and assessment of progress.
Families are involved through weekly phone/email follow-ups and monthly or bi-weekly family sessions at the therapist's office.
